Kathleen Mary Porter (nee Saltarelli)

Our beautiful and feisty mom, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Kathie (Saltarelli) Porter has left us broken hearted with her passing on July 18, 2023. Kathie will be missed terribly by her children Corey Danyluk (Orietta) and Kristi Kocherkewych (Chad), as well as, her three young grandsons, Lucas, Liam and Owen. She leaves behind her husband, Bob Porter and stepson, Adam Porter. Connie Ferreira will lovingly remember Kathie always as her stepmom. Everlasting memories will be forever cherished by her sister Noreen, brothers Brian and Nick, nephews and nieces as well as her dear friend, Nancy Wicks. Kathie has been reunited with her parents, Bridie and Albert Saltarelli and nephew Spencer. (We are certain she is rejoicing in this reunion.) Kathie was a devoted and loving mom. Although separated by many miles, Corey, Kristi and their families were most important to her.

She had a kind and giving heart and a delightful sense of humour. Her favourite saying was “I am woman, hear me roar!”. Kathie enjoyed a very close relationship with her mom and dad and truly missed them after their deaths. In her final years, she struggled with her health but, fought a good fight.  Kathie enjoyed volunteering for Welland Recreation, helping organize events and craft activities for kids.

She was a graduate of Notre Dame College School in Welland, after which she attended the nursing program at Mohawk College in Hamilton. On leaving school she ventured first into banking, then real estate with her father, ultimately becoming a driven businesswoman managing up to three card and stationery shops at a time.

As per her wishes, there will be no service. If you wish, Kathie would have approved of a donation to the Welland SPCA in lieu of flowers. Better still, just tell someone you love them, tomorrow will be too late. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lampman Funeral Home.

  • My sincere condolences to Corey and Kristi.Kathie was a good friend for 45 years. She could always be counted on to lend a helping hand or a sympathetic ear.I saw her a few days before her passing, had our usual cup of tea and talked about old times.Although she was in poor health I had no idea it would be our last visit. She will be missed.Godspeed old friend

  • A kind-hearted person. I regret not seeing her since moving back to the region. My deep condolences to her family.

  • Mom, I will forever hold the memories of my childhood close to my heart as you created amazing moments for both Corey & I. From the kolbassa sandwich we made you for Mother’s Day when we were kids that you “delightfully” enjoyed, to the holidays and birthdays you made special because you just had that touch that made everything perfect. To holding my hand whenever & wherever we went when I was little, to surviving my teenager years and to letting me spread my wings as I decided to move to BC for school and met Chad. Life had some hiccups but I loved you with all of my heart, as I know you loved me too.
I promise to keep telling stories to Lucas & Liam and please keep an eye on them ❤️. Give Grandma & Grandpa a big hug for me.
I love you forever Mom…I’ll miss you forever.
