The Lord has called home His daughter Sylvia Hansler on the 27th of May, 2022 in her 98th year. Predeceased by Cecil Anger, Orval Hansler, grandson Jason Anger and three of her sisters. Loving mother of Sharon (the Late Dave) Horton, Karen (Allan) Wright, Grace (John) Cosby, Brian (Sandy) Anger, Harold (Kathy) Anger and Paul (Kathy) Anger. Sylvia will be missed by her three sisters, brother, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as Cousin Carol McPherson.

A Rite of Committal will take place on Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Wainfleet at 1pm. Memorial donations made to the Church of Christ in Fenwick would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lampman Funeral Home. www.lampmanfuneralhome.com

Jane Carolyn Haist passed away at the Douglas Memorial Hospital on Saturday May
21, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer.
Jane is survived by her mother, Dorothy and brother, Gary ( Carolyn), step children and
grand children in Tennessee, and will be missed by her many friends in the community
and around the world. Predeceased by her father Harold (2017).
Jane was a member of the Canadian Track & Field Team and represented Canada in
the Montreal ’76 Olympics. During her career in sports, she represented her high school
track & field team and went on to compete around the world, including Australia, New
Zealand, Russia, Israel, Mexico, The Ukraine, Sweden, Norway, the United States,
Great Britain, and many more. In 1974 she competed in the Commonwealth Games in
New Zealand and won Gold Medals in Women’s Shot Put and Discus. In 1975, she
won a Bronze Medal at the Pan American Games in Mexico City.
She also competed at the University of Tennessee from 1977-1979 and was an All-
American in 1977 & 1978, winning the AIAW National Championship in Discus. In her
first year she tossed a collegiate record in discus that still stands at the University of
Tennessee.
Special thanks to Dr. Scher, the nursing staff, and support staff for their care in making
Jane’s last days comfortable.

Cremation has taken place and a private family internment will take place at a later
date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the

On behalf of my Grandmother, Phyllis Svob, and family, I am posting the passing of my Grandfather Victor Svob, May 6th just 11 days short of his 96th birthday. Victor is survived by his wife Phyllis (Garner) of 76 years. Children Patty (Gary) (from a pervious relationship), Dorothy (Allen), Donald (Sharon), Barbara (Loren). Grandchildren Kathy (Ken), Ron (Karen), Sherry (John), Shannon, Donna (Brandon), Melanie, and Darcy (Diana). Great Grandchildren, Kinte, Jessica (Matt), Christopher, Kassidy, Kooper, Tyler, and Zachary, Great Great Grandson Axell and brother Frank Svob. As per Victor’s wishes he will be cremated and laid to rest with his son Walter (passed at 4 years-old) at Woodlawn Cemetery at a future date, with no service. We would like to thank the staff at Woodlands of Sunset for everything they have done to care for Victor over the last 4 years. Sadly dementia is a rotten disease and we thank everyone who helped in some way over the last few years. You are greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lampman Funeral Home.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Rory Alsop of Fenwick on April 25, 2022 at the age of 65.  Loving son of Berniece Alsop and beloved brother of Jarrett (Marlene) and Robin (Byron). He will be missed by his nieces and nephews as well as his extended family. Predeceased by his father George (2018). Rory will be remembered for his creativity and his love for the outdoors. Passed away peacefully at St. Catharines Hospital on April 6^th, 2022 in her 88^th year.  Survived by her loving and supportive husband of 65 years Donald Sabo. Cherished mother of Tammy (Jim) Leavoy, Beth (Scott) Henderson and Cindy Sabo. Beloved grandmother to Taylor (Jessica) Leavoy and Clinton Sabo and great grandmother to Olivia and Amelia Leavoy. She will also be missed by her sister Phyllis Negrette in California.  Predeceased by her parents Alice and Colin Haney from Dunnville.

Colleen was very active in the Pelham community for many years: volunteering in the Fonthill Firefighter Auxiliary, acting as a crossing guard in Fonthill and coaching local baseball teams.  She was very talented and delighted in artistic and crafty things and loved sewing and knitting clothes for family and friends. Colleen had a love of antiques and refinishing special treasures. Don and Colleen spent over 20 years as snowbirds, vacationing in Florida in the winter months. She was always there to support her family and friends whenever they needed her, and she will be greatly missed by all.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jim Edsall on Monday, April 4, 2022 at the age of 95. He is now reunited with his wife Florence “Edith”. Cherished dad of David (Deborah) Edsall.  Jim is survived by his  grandchildren Ryan, Rob, Michelle, Jacob, Jeremy, Justin, Jessie and Shari and his many great grandchildren as well as his extended family. Predeceased by his sons Lloyd, Terry and Donnie and his long-time companion Eleanor Fisher.

Jim was a long-standing contributing member of the IOOF, joining in 1946. He was heavily involved with the United Church for many years and worked for 35 years with the MTO and was awarded as a quarter century member.

Family and friends are invited to Lampman Funeral Home, 724 Canboro Rd, Fenwick on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 7-9pm and on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 11am-12pm. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will take place at the funeral home at 12pm on Friday April 8, 2022. A committal service will be held following the service at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. At the family’s request MASKS ARE MANDATORY for admittance. It’s not easy to describe our Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother in a few words,
Yet it’s easy to see the legacy she has left behind.
Janet Metler passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Saturday April 2, 2022.
Janet went on her own terms in her 91st year to join her beloved late husband Bob (Nov 2011)
to square dance their heavenly nights away.
Janet was also predeceased by her parents, Lanse and Beth Avery, as well as brothers Russell
and David.
Her strength and presence will be missed by her sister, Helen Frackelton of Orillia, Ontario.
Janet is survived by her nine children, Brian Hudson, Rod Hudson (Jennifer), Bruce Metler,
Kathy MacKenzie (Peter), Andrew Metler (Peggy), Brenda Dawson (John Witney), Alice
Boisvert, Margaret Metler (Robin), John Metler (Brenda). Along with her 19 Grandchildren and
10 Great Grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
Janet lived a full and vibrant life with an abundance of love for her family, friends, travel, hard
work and adventure.
Mom always made her opinion known and if anyone didn’t like it “duck”. We will all
tremendously miss her tenacity, quick wit and laughs.
She and Bob were married for 56 years, travelled the world together and square danced their
way across the US and Canada in her handmade dance outfits. She was an accomplished
seamstress making everything from curtains for the cottage to wedding dresses for her
daughters. Janet drove school bus for many years and in her spare time worked the 40+ acre
fruit farm with Bob and their family. When the work was caught up she and her sister in-law
Joan raced their snowmobiles all around the neighbourhood. In the warmer weather she and
Bob would party with friends, and loved spending time at their cottage in Port Ryerse.
The family would like to sincerely thank the PSW’s of “Stay at Home” and palliative care team
RN’s Colleen and Jocelyn. Also, to the St. Catharines Hospital 3A section; Thank you.
Janet will be resting at home on the farm Tuesday and Wednesday with family and close friends
attending. Private interment Thursday morning at the North Pelham Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held in the afternoon at 12:30 at First Presbyterian Church, North
Pelham. Masks required.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the First Presbyterian Church, North Pelham.
