JOAN ELIZABETH ALTOFT (NASH)

ALTOFT, JOAN ELIZABETH (NASH) – formerly of St. Catharines, Bancroft, Frankford and Picton, passed away in the Welland County General Hospital on Wednesday January 7, 2015 in her 84th year after a lengthy illness. Daughter of the late William and Hannah Nash. Loving wife of the late William (2013). Mother of William (Virginia) of Wainfleet, Gregory (Annette) of Prince George B.C., Christopher (Susan) of Picton, and Stephanie (Wayne) Dillabough of Bancroft. Devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Sister of Nipper (Barbara)Nash, June (Wesley) Miller, Gail (Dennis) Switzer, Linda (Jim) Hale, sister-in-law of Betty (Ron) Nash, Stan (Anne) Altoft, Lillian (Walter) Altoft, Nancy (Gregg) Scott. Predeceased by brother Ronald Nash, brother Harold Nash and his wife Marlene, and brother-in-law Walter Altoft. Joan spent many years working with developmentally challenged individuals in the Niagara and Bancroft areas. Joan and Bill owned and operated the Bancroft KOA Campground for 25 years. She was a devoted and loving mother who took exceptional pride in her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Affectionately called the “Pioneer Woman” by her sisters, she enjoyed reading and the company of her many Labrador Retrievers. In keeping with Joan’s wishes, Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Celebration will be announced at a later date. Our family wishes to express our sincere thanks to all the professional and caring staff of the Continuing Care and ILTC units at the Welland Hospital. Van Liefland, William – surrounded by his family peacefully passed at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Tuesday January 6, 2015. William Van Liefland of Fenwick in his 83rd year. Loving husband to Leny for 59 years. Dear father of Joanne Van Liefland (Perry Catena), Patty Van Liefland, Paul, and Elaine French (Justin). Proud Opa to Lindsey, Jordan, Liam, Pieter, Charlie and Kylie. William is survived by his brother and sisters in The Netherlands. Resting at the LAMPMAN FUNERAL HOME, 724 Canboro Road, Fenwick for Visitation on Friday January 9th from 7-9 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anns Catholic Church in Fenwick on Saturday January 10th at 1:00 P.M. Cremation to follow. TOPOLINSKY, LORNE MICHAEL – Lorne was called home to be with the Lord at the Welland County General Hospital on Monday December 29, 2014 in his 71st year. Loving husband to Joyce. Dear father of Lauri Carthew (Gord) and James (Danuta). Loving grandfather to Alisha (Scott) and Ashley (Brandon). Great grandfather to Damien and Deanna. Lorne is survived by his brother Allan (Beverly). Predeceased by grandchildren Shawn and Patricia, also by his parents Peter and Doris, and his brother Wayne.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday January 9th at 2:00 P.M., at the LAMPMAN FUNERAL HOME, 724 Canboro Road, Fenwick. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Service.
Donations to the First Baptist Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Passed away peacefully at the Welland County General Hospital on Tuesday December 30, 2014 in his 53rd year. Loving husband to Laurie. Dear father of Courtney and Daniel. Son of the late Ludger Robichaud (2005) and Doralice Robichaud (1984). Predeceased by his sister Therese (1954) and brother Rene (1971). George is survived by his brothers Jacques (Eva), Claude (Linda), Michel (Doris) and Andre (Carmen). George will be sadly missed by Babe, Roy and Elizabeth Toms, brother in law Roy and sister in law Sherry Fazzalari (Aldo), as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. George will be greatly missed by his co pilot Chloe. George will never be forgotten. When friends gather the Booming voice that once filled the room with laughter is at rest and he has left us with memories ever after. Rest In Peace George. UHRIG, NORMAN EDWARD
Age 93 passed away peacefully at Lookout Ridge on December 30, 2014 with his wife by his side. He will be sadly missed by family and friends, leaving behind his wife Maple (Lake) of 70 years, daughter Pat Higgins (Al) and son Norm (Pam), 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Norm was a retired member of the Labourers Union Local 837 and a very proud Veteran of WWII. He loved to joke and tease, fish and garden. Norm’s wishes are being respected, there will be no Visitation, Cremation has taken place, private Interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery in St. Catharines ON. A very special thank you to the staff at Lookout Ridge in Fonthill for their loving care.
