ANNE ROBBINS
The family of Anne Robbins is saddened to announce her passing on January 1, 2026 in her 93rd year.
She was a loving Mom to Colin (Valentina) Robbins, Janice (Marty) Graf, Dawn (Bill) Crandall, David
(Marianne) Robbins, Susan Robbins, and Heather (Dan) Soares. Cherished Grandma to eleven
grandchildren and Great – Grandma to eight with a new baby on the way.
Anne will be missed by her brother, Robert McClellan, sisters-in-law Eileen McClellan, Donna and Sharon
Robbins and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She adored our family pets, especially River, and they will miss the treats she always had in her pocket.
Anne was predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Burton McClellan, brother John McClellan, in laws
Ruby and Walter Robbins and brothers and sisters- in- law, Myrna and Lyle Angle, Ken and Murray
Robbins and Jerrie McClellan.
Mom was a kind and compassionate lady with a quiet strength and determination that could move
mountains. She worked at Robbins Feed & Fuels and Robbins Fuels for 40 years- no small feat for a
mother of six. Family life was very busy and we have fond memories of her driving the big station
wagon full of kids to all kinds of games, practices and lessons.
After retirement, she devoted herself to community involvement and volunteerism. She was recognized
in 2003 as Pelham Citizen of the Year for her service to Pelham Cares, Fenwick United Church, Fenwick
Lioness, Pelham Seniors and Harvest Meals program, to name a few. She also received the Helen Keller
and Lioness Humanitarian awards. While she humbly accepted these, it was a highlight and proud
moment in her life.
During her years at Lookout Ridge Retirement Home, Anne enjoyed the friendship of many and was well
known for the social events where she donned a quirky hat, “special” sweater or full out costume.
Decorating the third floor hallway for seasonal holidays brought her joy, including this past Christmas.
She was an avid Blue Jays fan and everyone knew it!
Many thanks to residents of the independent living building for checking in on Mom often. Special
thanks to the staff at Lookout Ridge, emergency room and 3 rd floor staff at Welland Hospital for their
care, and to Dr. Grant who always reassured her “what a good vintage that ’33 model was!”
In an ever changing world, Anne’s commitment to family, community and her Christian faith remained
steadfast and strong throughout her life’s journey.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Funeral Service will be held at Fenwick United Church, 1050 Church St., Fenwick, on January 10, 2026
at 11:00 a.m. The service can be viewed by going to the website fenwickunitedchurch.ca and clicking on
the zoom link. After the service, all are welcome to join us for a light lunch downstairs.
In memory of Anne, donations to Fenwick United Church or Pelham Cares would be gratefully accepted.

SIEMON “SIMON” POLS
May 12, 1937-January 2, 2026
On May 12, 1937, Siemon (Simon) was born to Siemon and Janna Pols in Hofddorp, Nehterlands. He was the 10th child of 12. He was the new brother to Cor+, Johanna+, Jerry+, Maartje+, Jan+ Fem+ , Barend+, Arie+ , and later Wim, Gert, and other. Siem was born and raised in Hofddorp, Netherlands. Siem lived on a small farm and stayed there until 1956. In April of 1956, he immigrated to Canada. He spent a year or so in Trenton, Ontario and then moved to Whitby, Ontario.
This started a new chapter in Simon’s (Siem’s) life. One day, in the fall of 1959, while having supper with Hendrike and Willem Smit, friends from church, He met a young woman named Lutske (Loes) Snijder, a sister of Hendrike. This was the beginning of a relationship that blossomed into marriage and a lifelong partner.
Simon and Loes got married on August 26, 1961. It was a hot and humid day and we as children heard on numerous occasions how the soup for their wedding spoiled from the heat. Nonetheless, that did not spoil the day they committed their lives to each other, and God’s plan for their lives would move forward.
During their married years they moved around in the Oshawa, Bowmanville, and Newcastle areas. While Simon and Loes lived in that area, they were blessed with five children, Simon, Ron, Heleen, Andrew, and Anita. Dad worked as a mason and Mom as a devoted stay at home mother. In September of 1977, Simon and Loes decided to move to Wainfleet, Ontario to farm. After selling the farm and a few career changes, Simon decided to start a poultry equipment business with his sons in the beginning of 1987. Through God’s grace and guidance, Pols Enterprises thrived through hard workand dedication and is still going today.
Through the years, they saw their children grow and get married. Loes and Simon experienced many blessings along with heartache. Through the good and lean
times Simon found time serve those around him and gave to the causes that were dear to him, knowing the Lord always provides. Simon’s journey was about providing for his family, serving others and more importantly glorifying God in all things.
Mom (Loes) passed away to be with her Saviour on November 21, 2020.
They witnessed the growth of their family:

– (Anita+ 1995) Ken and Dana, Joshua (Allison), Caleb (Sylvia), Jake (Kristen), (Daniel+ 2019), Nate (Janelle), Kendra, and Benjamin
And 28 great grandchildren
In the evening hours of January 2, 2026, the Lord took unto Himself our wonderful Dad and Opa. We thank the Lord for his life and his witness of God’s grace. He is now free of pain and in the presence of unspeakable joy and grace. Maranatha!

Simon’s family will welcome guests on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Wellandport United Reformed Church, 74082 Wellandport Road, Wellandport, ON L0R 2J0 from 5pm-8pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11am at Wellandport URC.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heritage Christian School.

PETER SPYKER
1958 – 2025
It is with heartfelt sadness the family announces the passing of Peter Spyker. Peter passed away at his home with family by his side on December 14th, 2025 in his 67th year. Born on January 17th, 1958, Peter lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep connections with family and friends, and a generous spirit that touched many.
Peter built a long and successful career in long-distance trucking as an owner-operator. Over the years, he logged countless miles across the country, forming bonds with fellow drivers over the CB radio and becoming a familiar voice on the road. His love for conversation was well known—whether chatting with family and friends around the dinner table or sharing stories with fellow truckers during long hauls, Peter had a gift for making people feel heard and welcome.
At home, Peter found joy in simple pleasures. He had a passion for building model train layouts, carefully crafting miniature worlds amongst the lush gardens he and Gilda so meticulously maintained. He cherished time spent with loved ones—gathering for meals, enjoying social drinks with friends, and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His generosity and warmth left lasting impressions on all who knew him.
Peter is lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years Gilda Spyker; his children Scott Spyker (Sheri), Melissa Colitti (James), Shirley Rogers, and Kevin Rogers (Sara); and his grandchildren Ryan, Kyle, Isabella, Alisha and Ethan along with his siblings Anne McNally (Glenn) Jack Spyker (Dorothy), Clarence Spyker (Dee) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents whom he deeply missed Jack and Grace Spyker.
In keeping with Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Welland Hospital as well as the PSWs of March of Dimes for the compassionate and kind care they showed Peter when he required it. Special appreciation is extended to neighbours and friends Marc and Nicole Daigle for their constant support and assistance to Peter these past few years.
Peter’s memory will live on through the stories shared by those who knew him best—the laughter around the table, the voices over the radio waves, and the kindness he extended without hesitation. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.

MARCY JEAN MOORMANN
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marcy Jean Moormann on October 7, 2025 at the age of 33.
Marcy was a wonderful woman, who made an impression on anyone she met. Her love for travel took her to corners of the world most people only dream of. Wherever she went, her personality allowed her to make connections, turning strangers into friends with her quick wit, infectious laugh, and ability discuss almost any topic with intellect. Our world feels dimmer without her, but her spirit will live on in the countless memories she helped us create.
She will be missed by her daughter Eloise, who brought such joy to her life. Eloise’s father, Marc Ashbridge. Her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Moormann, her grandparents Joseph and Jeannette Moormann, sister, Selina, nieces, Mikayla and Lily – aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
We love you, Marcy, forever and always.
Marcy’s family would like to thank the ICU staff at the Niagara Falls General for their kindness, compassion and care during this most difficult time. Elaine, your tender care will not be forgotten.

BELA FERENC JOSEF “BILL” CSANIG
CSANIG, Bela Ferenc Josef (Bill) of Wainfleet passed peacefully at Welland Hospital on Friday, October 3, 2025 with family at his side in his 87th year. Loving and devoted husband of Elizabeth (nee Duncan) of 56 years. Dearly loved father of Elizabeth (Liz) Zwier of Welland and Anne and Phil Bartlett of Hanover. Much cherished Poppa of Cat (Zwier) and John Bosak of Digby, NS; Coleton Bartlett of Hanover; Brietta Bartlett of Holstein; Will Zwier of Welland; Larissa Bartlett and Austin Reed of Sturgeon County, AB (as Mom says, Somewhere in Alberta); Braden Bartlett of Hanover and Jesse Bartlett of Hanover. Proud great-grandfather to Violet and Jackson Troughton of Holstein, and Kylie and baby Reed (due in March) of Sturgeon County, AB. Survived by siblings Sister Juliana of Toronto; Margaret (Roy Chrest) of Fonthill; Roger (Alice) of Lowbanks and Jim of Wainfleet. Also survived by brother in law Robert (Sally) Duncan of Coburg, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Antol and Borbala (Torok) Csanig; siblings Mary (Marcel) Martineau, Tony, Ann (Arden) Haner, Alec, Barbara (Clare) Pratt, Rose (Bill) Dewling as well as Julia, Helen and Stephen in childhood. Also predeceased by his parents in law George and Isabel (McDonald) Duncan and sisters and brothers in law Jane and Ted Scott, Matt and Joyce Duncan, and Margaret and Tony Madge, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was born November 22, 1938 in Fort Frances and moved to Wainfleet area at age 7. As a young man, he worked as a rigger for the elevators, unloading grain from ships in the Welland Canal. He spent a couple of years at a machine shop in Dunnville, before being hired at INCO in Port Colborne. He was also a fireman there. He suffered a catastrophic accident in 1970 at the nickel plant in which he was pinned between a shuttle train that had jumped the track and a brick wall. This led to a forced retirement in 1981. He then farmed full time, shipping cream until the early 2000’s.
Bill was involved in many organizations, serving as director and then president of District 4 Haldimand and Niagara Cream Producers, for which he was a delegate to the Ontario Cream Producers Association; serving several board positions with the Golden Horseshoe Jersey Cattle Club, a director for the Jersey cattle show at the Niagara Regional Exhibition, a director for the Niagara South 4H Association and a longtime member of the Wainfleet Historical Society for which he was a representative to the Niagara Regional Historical Council. He also volunteered for many years at the Marshville Heritage Festival.
Heartfelt thanks to the doctors and especially the nurses of the Welland Hospital ICU for their compassionate care of our family, and to the Paramed PSWs. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
The family will welcome visitors on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 at the LAMPMAN FUNERAL HOME, 724 Canboro Rd., Fenwick from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Wainfleet. Reception to follow.
GERALD “JERRY” ROSS ALLEN
Gerald (Jerry) Ross Allen, passed away peacefully at his home in Port Robinson, surrounded by his loving family on September 7, 2025 at the age of 76. Jerry lived a life defined by love, courage, strength and perseverance.
Jerry is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Colleen Kelly Ruel-Allen (Elena) and Jennifer Allen (Jonathan Van Dijk), and by his cherished grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew and Joshua; his brothers and sisters Ted Bennett, Ginny Yuill (Sam), Dennis Allen (Judy), Pat Fink (Roger) and Bob Allen, sister-in-law Catherine (Ann) Fettes (Greg) and their families. He was preceded by his beloved mother, Mildred MacDonald, father Clifford Allen and his sister Joan Bennett, as well as by many dear friends and extended family members.
Jerry will be fondly remembered for his contagious laugh and quick wit. Although he could be a man of few words, his wisdom and guidance have left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His love for the great outdoors, camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing helped define who he was and taught us all these are best shared with family and friends. Jerry spent many winters in Florida with some of his closest friends and travelled the world, crossing countries off his bucket list. He was hard-working and dedicated in everything he put his mind to. He spent over 40 years in the automotive business, retiring at Performance Collision in St Catharines, where he made many friends. Jerry will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his positive attitude to life, his sense of humour and adventure and that he lived life to the fullest.
We are so very grateful to everyone who supported our father during his ALS journey. Your presence and kindness meant the world to him—and to us.

DAVID ANDREW BENNISON
Sharing the news of Dave Bennison’s passing on August 29th, 2025 is sad, but he touched so many lives and left a legacy of passion and laughter that will live on.
Leaving us physically, at home and peacefully, he had just reached the age of 55. He is survived by his wife Victoria Young Bennison, his children David James “D.J” and Jessie (Sam). In North Bay and surrounding area he is being missed by his father John Bennison (Penny), brother Derek Bennison (Heather), and sister Christina (Tim). Predeceased by his mother Vivian Bennison.
Having grown up in South River and North Bay, Dave then moved to Pelham and Welland, where he began proudly working for Challenger Motor Freight for 30 years. In 2009 he co created Stick to the Story where he created handmade staffs, wands, and pendants. This was followed by his internet radio show “The Long Story Short Show” where he interviewed organizers of local events, artists of every kind, and celebrities. Then he began his social media page Historical Niagara, where he shared his interest in local history, seeking facts in the past. And finally, he took on the role of Santa, where his unique presentation had children (young and old) asking for chunks of coal.

Dave’s Celebration of Life will be held on October 5th in two parts.
