Cornelis Bos
21 May, 1929 – 6 November, 2025
With thankfulness to God for his deep faith, we celebrate the life of Cornelis Bos. November 6, Cor passed peacefully in his 96th year to his heavenly home.
Dear husband to Tina for 75 years, he will be greatly missed by his children Cori (Eddie) Margolin, Alice (Stuart) Vandermeer and Henry (Betsy) Bos, as well as his 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Cor was born Cornelis Bos on May 21, 1929 in the village of Bleiswyk, Holland. In 1948, at the age of 18, he became one of the first immigrants to come to Canada, travelling on the ship Kota Inten. His first job was working for an apple farmer in Wainfleet. It was on his apple delivery route that Cor first met Catharina (Tina) Bakker. Cor was a hard worker. After two years he and Tina were married. Cor worked various jobs including Wonder Bread, John Deere and Atlas Steele. Times were often tough but their faith was strong and they always thanked God for each new job that was provided. In time Cor was able to purchase his father-in-law’s farm in Stevensville, which he enjoyed working for the next 34 years.
During this time three children were welcomed into the family. Corinne, Alice and Henry.
Cor loved running the farm. Cor also loved fishing and cars, new or antique, if it had four wheels it caught his attention. Cor was always a faithful member in his church, Rehoboth in Niagara Falls and later Bethany in Fenwick.
After retiring to Fonthill, Cor and his wife Tina were able to travel and enjoyed trips back to their homeland as well as many other places.
In 2019 they moved to Martindale Place in St.Catharines. They settled in quickly meeting old friends and making new ones. Recently Cor and Tina celebrated their 75 th wedding anniversary. It is a blessing few couples are able to experience. A few weeks later Cor became very ill. Until his last day he was blessed with a clear mind and was still able to speak with his wife and children, as well as most of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
It was clear that Cor was always in God’s gracious hand. He is now in heaven with his Lord and Saviour whom he served so faithfully for all his
years.
years.
Visitation will take place at 10:00am on November 12, 2025 at Pathway Bible Church, 1136 Vansickle Road N., St. Catharines, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00
In lieu of flowers, donations will be thankfully received for Make -A -Wish Canada.
