ANNE VANWYNGAARDEN

On Friday January 19, 2024, Anne, in her 93rd year, went to be with the Lord. Anne will be dearly missed by Peter, her husband of nearly 65 years and her children Nick (Trudy), Carol (Rick) Alders, Bonnie (Joe) Van Geytenbeek. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Sherri (Eric) Webb, Stephanie (Rod) Inglis, Brenden (Emily) Alders, Barry (Lindsay) Alders, Shelley (Brad) Bos, Brett Alders, Mitchell (Amy) Van Geytenbeek, Randy (Janna) Van Geytenbeek, Lauren (Steve) Elgersma as well as 15 great grandchildren. Anne is survived by her brother Nick Verburg (Shalom Manor).

She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends, was a well-loved member of Riverside CRC and the community around her.

Friends and family will be welcomed at Riverside CRC, 74094 Wellandport Rd, Wellandport, ON L0R 2J0 on January 29, 2024 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.  A funeral service will take place at 11am at Riverside CRC on January 30th. A private family interment will be held. Memorial donations made to the Dunnville Christian School would be appreciated by the family. Stanley Marshall Sonnenberg

SONNENBERG, Stanley Marshall

Peacefully after a short illness at the Welland Hospital on Monday, January 15, 2024 in his 86th year. Loved father of Joey (Marshall), Estelle and David and their mother Margaret Porkolab.  Beloved brother of Ilene Robins and the late Wilfred Sonnenberg (2010). Predeceased by his parents Stanley and Florence (nee French) Sonnenberg. Stan loved his horses, dogs and cats. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Fonthill Cemetery, at 11:00 a.m. Donations in Stan’s memory may be made to the Welland Humane Society and would be appreciated by his family. PHILLIP WHARTON BLACKMORE

BLACKMORE, Phillip Wharton M.A. Sc., P.Eng.

Peacefully passed away at NHS-Welland Site on January 7, 2024 at the age of 77.  Beloved husband of Wendy (Woodiwiss) for 38 years and loving father of Ian (Joanne) and Nathan, dear grandfather to Laura and Sarah.  Phil is survived by brother Richard, nephew Samuel, and several cousins.  Predeceased by his parents Ewart Wallace (2011) and Bertha Lillian (2012) Blackmore.

Phil studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo and spent his career in research and product development at BF Goodrich, Fiberglas Canada Inc., and Bay Mills Ltd.  Following retirement, Phil enjoyed driving school bus for 11 years.  Phil was heavily involved in Scouts Canada for over 50 years in many capacities of which he thoroughly enjoyed.  He dedicated many years raising funds for the local Port Colborne Scout Camp DayHondaLahQuah allowing a variety of community and program groups an outdoor space for activities.  Phil had many interests and hobbies including travelling, meeting new people around the world, woodworking projects, and reading.  Phil will be remembered by many for his love of learning, his laugh, and his felt hats.  

Friends will be received at Lampman Funeral Home, 724 Canboro Rd. Fenwick, Ontario on Friday January 19, 2024 from 1-3PM and 6-8PM.  Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at a later date.  Memorial donations to Niagara SPCA and Humane Society, Diabetes Canada, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Lampman Funeral Home.

On Sunday January 7, 2024 Anno Vander Veen peacefully joined his Heavenly Father. He will be greatly missed by his wife Grace, children Heidi (Troy), Emily (Joshua), and James (Sierra) and grandchildren Pearce, Lucius, Eden, Gianna, Henry, and Jack as well as family members Annette (Harry), Wynne (Case), Simon, John (Jane), Henrietta (Roy). Predeceased by his daughter Julie (2001).

Funeral Service

The family will honour his life with visitation at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, 1040 Balfour St, Fenwick on Wednesday January 10, 2024 from 2pm – 4pm & 6pm – 8pm. A memorial service will be held at Bethany Christian Reformed Church Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 2pm. A private family interment will precede the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to Family Outreach Ontario would be greatly appreciated by the family.

William John Brueske

BRUESKE, William John

Suddenly at his residence on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the age of 22. Loving son of the late Dierk Brueske (2013) and Christine (nee Luchyshyn) Brueske. Devoted brother of Emily Brueske. Cherished grandson of Del Luchyshn and Astrid Bruseke. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 from 10 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. with a Memorial Service at 1:00 P.M. at the LAMPMAN FUNERAL HOME, 724 Canboro Rd., Fenwick, ON. Donations may be made to Pathstone Mental Health Foundation or the Welland Humane Society, and would be appreciated by his family.

STEFAN HOZJAN

 

 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stefan Hozjan on October 3rd, 2023 at the age of 89. He is survived by his loving wife Marija and sons Stephen and David. Cherished Grandpa of Ava and Jack. He will be missed by his siblings Marija Jerebic, Joe Hozjan, sister-in-law Theresa Hozjan as well as his nieces and nephews Mary and Steve Horvat, Steve and Annie Jerebic, Joe and Luella Hozjan, David and Betty Cauldwell.

Stefan was born in 1934 in Mala Polana, a small village in the Prekmorje region of Slovenia. He immigrated to Canada in 1960 and married his beloved wife Marija in 1967. Stefan was a proud, honest and hardworking man (he would rather be farming than anything else!!) and he will be greatly missed by his family and community.

All will be welcomed to visit Stefan’s family on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Lampman Funeral Home, 724 Canboro Rd, Fenwick, ON L0S 1C0. Vigil prayers will be recited at 6pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 834 Canboro Road, Fenwick, ON L0S 1C0 on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 11am followed by a Rite of Committal at Hillside Cemetery. Peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Beloved husband of Carole MacCabe for 62 years. Loving father of the late Donna Lynn MacCabe (2012) and Todd (Tammy). Proud Grandfather of Jessica (Kelsey), Jayson (Rae) and Felicia (L. J.) and Great-grandfather of Aurora, Kai, Elliot and Oliver.

Peacefully on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late George Coverdale (2010). Loving mother of Margaret Shafto, Bonnie Coverdale and the late Gloria Coverdale (1950). Predeceased by her 11 brothers and sisters. Cherished Gramma of Jason, Adam (Virginia) and Crystal, and Great-gramma of Coen, Samantha (Andrew), Nigil, Zayden, Ailidh, Hannah and Liam. Visitation will take place at the Lampman Funeral Home, 724 Canboro Rd., Fenwick, ON, on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 12 – 2 p.m. with a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Zion cemetery, Wainfleet. Donations may be made to Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto or a Charity of One’s Choice would be appreciated by her family.
